Brad King joined ThompsonMcMullan in June 2009. He began his career in law in 1994, working at two other Richmond law firms and for the Hanover County Attorney's Office as a Senior Assistant County Attorney. Mr. King also served as the Governmental Relations Officer and Chief Lobbyist for the Virginia School Boards Association.

Mr. King represents public school boards throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He leads a team of attorneys in this area of practice, providing counsel and representation in the substantive areas of:
  • special education,
  • employment,
  • student discipline, and
  • contract negotiations.  

The Education Team Mr. King heads has extensive experience in providing counsel and representation in matters related to the U.S. and Virginia Constitutions and numerous state and federal acts, including the Virginia Public Procurement Act, Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Additionally Mr. King regularly revises and updates school board policies and administrative manuals to reflect the most current law. 

Mr. King is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he served as a member of the Journal of Law and Politics. He was a Cum Laude at Virginia Tech where he earned his B.A. in Communications. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, past-president of the Council of School Attorneys (COSA), and a Hearing Officer for the Virginia High School League.
