Mr. Cohen focuses his practice on trademarks, copyrights, e-commerce, advertising law, domain name disputes, and licensing.  Mr. Cohen counsels clients in intellectual property transactions involving trademark and copyright licenses, technology licenses, database rights, intellectual property due diligence and audits, domain name transfers, and e-commerce agreements.  In addition, he advises clients on issues relating to brand management and assists them in securing trademark registrations in the U.S. and throughout the world.   Mr. Cohen also has experience advising clients on issues relating to privacy and data breach.  Prior to joining ThompsonMcMullan, Mr. Cohen worked in the Intellectual Property group at McGuireWoods LLP.

Mr. Cohen graduated from the University of Virginia in 2001 with a B.A. in Psychology and the University of Maryland School of Law cum laude in 2007.   While attending the University of Maryland School of Law he was the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Business & Technology Law and received the Joseph S. Bernstein award for the most significant piece of writing for publication.

Mr. Cohen is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, Richmond Bar Association, Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association, and Virginia Biotechnology Association.  He also serves on the Historic Richmond Foundation’s Junior Board and is the current President of the Historic Richmond Foundation's Quoit Club.
