William W. Tunner joined ThompsonMcMullan in June 2000, after serving three years as the managing attorney of the Central Virginia Office of Huff, Poole & Mahoney, PC, based in Virginia Beach. Mr. Tunner began his practice in 1995 with the Norfolk firm, Stackhouse, Smith and Nexson.
Mr. Tunner’s practice is concentrated in the area of civil litigation, including insurance defense, insurance coverage and bad faith issues, workers’ compensation and commercial disputes.
Mr. Tunner’s litigation experience ranges from civil trials and appeals before state and federal courts to traffic matters before general district courts. He also represents individuals, insurance companies, and businesses before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, the Virginia Employment Commission, and administrative and regulatory boards.
Mr. Tunner’s primary focus lies in defending corporations, businesses and individuals in tort liability and employment matters. His clients are national self insured corporations, pharmacies and insurance companies for personal and commercial lines. He has significant experience defending premises liability claims and auto/trucking accidents.
Mr. Tunner is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, American Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, Richmond Bar Association, and Chesterfield and Colonial Heights Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and admitted to the United States District Court, Eastern and Western Districts and to the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern and Western Districts.
Mr. Tunner is a 1990 graduate of Washington & Lee University, where he majored in philosophy and was a member of the men’s varsity tennis team. He is a 1995 graduate of the TC Williams School of Law, University of Richmond. He is a director and shareholder of ThompsonMcMullan, P.C.
