Mr. McMullan has represented both developers and lenders in a wide array of commercial real estate projects including the formation of entities, the financing and leasing or sale of condominium and residential subdivision and/or apartment projects, office and warehouse projects, shopping centers and raw land. Mr. McMullan has also represented many closely-held and small publicly-held companies. In this connection, he has handled the formation of subsidiaries, contract negotiations, intra-company dispute resolutions, lease negotiations, financings, and share and asset purchases and sales of such companies. Additionally, Mr. McMullan has represented financial institutions regarding legal issues pertaining to banking, general corporate matters, lending, collection, and loan work-out matters. He has also represented the FDIC in various matters related to failed banks and savings and loan associations.
Mr. McMullan has served as President of the Richmond Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as a Trustee of the Richmond Historic Foundation, as a member of the Executive Committee of the Richmond Bar Real Estate Section, and as President of the Richmond Real Estate Group, a non-profit organization consisting of central Virginia based real estate developers and persons in fields related to real estate development. Mr. McMullan is a member of the Richmond and Virginia Bar Associations. He has served on the Council of the Virginia Bar Association’s Real Estate Section and as the Chair of the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar.
Mr. McMullan is former co-Chair of the Real Estate Section of Meritas, a worldwide organization of over 160 independent business and litigation law firms of which ThompsonMcMullan, P.C. is a member, and has served as a Vice-Chair of Meritas and a Member of its Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
