Partners John O’Herron and Peter Askin are slated to present a CLE to the Federal Bar Association, on behalf of its Richmond Chapter, titled “Preservation of Issues for Appellate Review at the Federal Level“.
Preserving issues for appellate review is at the heart of both trial and appellate practice. And due to the numerous and unpredictable circumstances of trial, complying with federal preservation rules can often add unwelcome stress and complications to effective trial advocacy. This program will not only address the many rules for specific trial pleadings and contexts, but will also place those rules into the context of broader preservation principles that will help take the worry and fear out of preservation.
Broken up into three sections, the presentation will cover appellate review and the purpose of preservation principles, specific preservation rules, recent federal appellate cases applying those rules, and appeals council briefing strategies and policy-based arguments.
