ThompsonMcMullan is excited to welcome Stephen Steward, Jr. to the firm as a litigation associate. A former musician, Stephen was drawn to the law by many of the same qualities he valued in music: creativity, structure, preparation, and collaboration. Before joining our firm, Stephen clerked for Judges Clarence N. Jenkins, Jr. and Bradley B. Cavedo in Richmond Circuit Court and later for Chief Judge Brian F. Kenney of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. These experiences provided him with a firsthand perspective on the courts and reinforced the importance of fairness, sound judgment, and thoughtful advocacy.
Today, Stephen brings a collaborative and people-focused approach to his practice. He believes the strongest advocacy combines legal knowledge with careful listening, empathy, and an understanding of each client’s individual needs.
