Employment and Litigation partner Will Prince has once again been selected to present a session at this year’s annual CLE conference hosted by the Virginia Creditors’ Bar Association scheduled for October 23rd. In a session titled Recent Developments and Case Updates in Creditor’s Rights Issues in Virginia and Across the Nation, Will is slated to present alongside Andrew Biondi of SandsAnderson.
Their session will provide an in-depth review of matters decided within the year preceding the 16th annual VCDA seminar in tribunals across the nation, but with a focus on Virginia and the Fourth Circuit. The presentation will keep Virginia creditors’ attorneys and their clients apprised of risks facing them as they pursue collection-related matters and defend private litigation initiated against creditors, debt collectors, and credit reporting agencies in state and federal courts. Primary subject matter includes cases analyzing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and state consumer protection acts like the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. The analysis provided will assist attorneys in avoiding liability for consumer claims and forming successful arguments and defense plans in their own cases by seeing where courts came down in case opinions decided in 2024 and 2025.
