Trusts, Estates, and Elder Law attorney Christopher Roberson is presenting at this year’s Advanced Elder Law Update Seminar hosted by Virginia CLE. Occurring annually, this event provides attendees with updates on the new cases, legislation, and regulations, while also exploring new and perennial topics vital to elder law attorneys. The various topics are covered by many well-respected attorneys in the elder law field who guide attendees through the current challenges within the practice, as well as those that are likely to arise in the future. More specifically, presentations at this year’s seminar will review income taxation of trusts, provide an overview of gift/estate/generation (GST) skipping transfer tax, explore SLATs and GST planning for high-net-worth clients, examine required minimum distributions under the SECURE Act/Final Regulations and naming trusts as a beneficiary of retirement accounts, teach attendees how to maximize SSI benefits for parents of disables adults, and inform attendees of how to avoid potential tax and other pitfalls when drafting joint revocable trusts.
Chris’s session, presented alongside former ThompsonMcMullan elder law attorney Shawn Majette, titled “Elder Law Updates” will review the new cases, statutes, regulations, and what bills passed and failed in the 2025 Virginia General Assembly in the guardianship field. The seminar offers CLE credit for those registered and will be held both in-person onsite and via webcast.
