Director Adam Nelson has been invited to speak at the Richmond Property Owners Association (RPOA) monthly general membership meeting scheduled for July 12th to provide updates on, and impacts of, the landlord-tenant law. He will discuss general real estate matters, landlord updates, and the benefits of owning real estate in an LLC.
Virginia’s eviction protections that went into effect in 2020 as a result of COVID-19 are no longer a benefit provided to renters and tenants as of July 1, 2022. Landlords are now only required to provide a five-day notice when issuing evictions, which limits the amount of time tenants have to respond or remain in their homes. Additional changes to protections will also be issued in the coming months, which Adam will address in his presentation.
RPOA members consist of residential, commercial, and apartment owners and property management companies, and creates the space to network, buy and sell real estate, and provide feedback and knowledge on the challenges the industry presents.
