John Thompson and Grice McMullan founded ThompsonMcMullan over 40 years ago in a small office building on Foushee Street in Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from law school in 1967, John spent over five years at Reynolds Metals, first as a patent attorney and member of the general law department and later as counsel in the Washington, D.C. Government Relations Department. He had planned to take a new legal job in a small town in Colorado. Before leaving Washington, he ran into a friend and fellow attorney, Matthew Ott, who convinced him to come back to Richmond and share office space with him and Michael Morchower.
