ThompsonMcMullan is excited to share that James (“Jim”) M. McCauley has joined our firm in an Of Counsel role. Jim is the former Ethics Counsel for the Virginia State Bar (VSB), a position from which he retired in 2022. He also served as staff liaison to the VSB’s Standing Committee on Legal Ethics and managed the staff in the Legal Ethics Department and the Legal Ethics Hotline. Jim also has a background in teaching, having held roles as faculty of the VSB’s Mandatory Professionalism Course and as a professor of Professional Responsibility at the T.C. Williams School of Law. Jim brings over 40 years of experience in the legal field to ThompsonMcMullan, where he will help further develop our legal ethics defense practice.
