Trusts, Estates, and Elder Law attorney Karen Dunivan Konvicka is presenting at the 33rd Annual Advanced Elder Law Seminar co-sponsored by Virginia CLE and the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (VAELA). Focused on the ever-changing landscape of elder law, the annual seminar provides attendees with updates on new cases, legislation, and regulations, posing current and potential challenges so attorneys can be informed and prepared in their practice.
Karen is a founding member of VAELA and currently serves on the Public Policy Committee. She, along with recently retired ThompsonMcMullan attorney Shawn Majette, will lead the first session of the seminar titled Elder Law Updates, where they will review new cases, statutes, and regulations, as well as discuss the bills that passed and failed in the 2024 Virginia General Assembly in the guardianship field.
Takeaways for attendees include:
- Updates on the new cases, legislation, and regulations in the General Assembly
- Understanding of how Special Needs Trusts and ABLE accounts work together
- Understanding of the impact elder care has on other areas of the law
- Discussion of the many ethical issues that arise when practicing elder law
- Opportunity to network with colleagues
The seminar will be hosted both live and via webcast and the full agenda can be found here.
